A_tistic presents: apprentice adventurers association!

In 2021, A_tistic delivered a successful pilot program: Apprentice Adventurers Association, a disabled and neurodivergent-friendly introduction to tabletop role playing games. Designed and delivered by past Co-Directors James Matthews and Hannah Aroni, this program is currently on hiatus, but we hope it will be delivered again in the future.

A beginner’s guide to the art and skill of collaborative storytelling through tabletop role playing games!

Apprentice Adventurers Association is a 10-week tabletop roleplaying game workshop for disabled and/or neurodivergent young people.

Guided by a veteran tabletop roleplaying facilitator with lived experience of disability and neurodivergence, you’ll have the chance to sample different games, experimenting with imaginative worlds of fantasy, sci fi, superheroes and even Greek mythology.

We won’t just focus on the rules of the games, but also the skills you need to have a great time telling stories with old or new friends.

Whether you’re new to roleplaying games or interested in becoming a gamemaster, come join the Apprentice Adventurers Association!

where, when and how

Because we’re working with Banyule City Council for this pilot program, we are prioritising young people with a connection to the Banyule Council area - but even if you are from elsewhere in Victoria, you are welcome to put in an expression of interest!

We’re running two separate versions of this program, one online and one in person, both around Term 3 of the 2021 school year:

In person sessions (ages 11-15):

Thursdays 4.30pm-7.30pm

22 July - 23 September

Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub, 275 Upper Heidelberg Rd, Ivanhoe

Online sessions (ages 16-24):

Tuesdays 4.30pm-7.30pm

20 July - 21 September

Participants need access to a computer and internet for online sessions.

Participation is completely free, thanks to the support of VicHealth funding. All the materials you need to play (other than a computer and the internet for online sessions) will be provided.

Limited places are available, and expressions of interest close 11.59pm on Tuesday 13 July! To submit an expression of interest, click on the button below, and it will take you to the online form.

For questions, clarifications, or more information, feel free to email us at atistictheatre@gmail.com or use the form here.

This program is proudly supported by Banyule City Council and VicHealth’s Reimagining Health Grant, and delivered by A_tistic.
